(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission is moving forward with plans to purchase a new ambulance for the county.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says Commissioners on Tuesday met with representatives from Holton based Techs Inc., which provides ambulance services for the county, to discuss the roughly three bids that had been received for the purchase. He says prices range from approximately $174,000 to $120,000 for a pre-engineered, basic ambulance model.
Schuele says the specifics of the ambulance to be purchased are currently under consideration. “We have a budget that we are operating within this year on purchasing an ambulance and two heart monitors. We are spending no more than $220,000, so Techs Inc. is going to go back to the manufacturers and hone down in, and see what options...what the differences are between the specs on the bids before we determine which ambulance we will go with.”
As part of the process, the Commission is working to create a rotation schedule to alleviate the need of having to replace two or more ambulances in the same year.
Also on Tuesday, Eric Noll was sworn in as the new second district Commissioner after Governor Sam Brownback formally appointed him to the seat.
