(KLZA)-- The Falls City Board of Education approved several resignations when they met Monday night.
High School Science Teacher Noala Fritz who has been with District 56 for 38 years, First Grade Teacher Debra Harris who taught in the District for 33 years, 6 –12 grade Instrumental Band Instructor Kent Stutheit and Elementary Teacher and Assistant Volleyball Coach Kelsi Haug are the teachers leaving. Also resigning are Speech and Language Pathologist Jo Crawford, Elementary Library Paraprofessional Mary Wenz, High School Secretary Nancy Fischer and North School Custodian Perry Stark.
Superintendent Tim Heckinlively noted that due to enrollment in the elementary grades, they hope to be able to have one less elementary teacher and still have fewer than 20 students per class.
The Board also approved the school calendar for the 2015-16 school year. The first day for students will be August 13th and the final day of school for the 15-16 school year will be May 19, 2016. Due to Easter being in March in 2016, with Parent-Teacher Conferences being in March as well, there will be no school for a complete week March 21 – 25. The 21st will be a comp day for teachers and the other four days will be spring break.
The project list for this summer was also approved by the Board. The list includes replacing entrance doors at North School and extending the off street parking on the north side of the building.
At South School rocking the parking lot south of the building and carpeting two classrooms; at the Middle School re-piping the HVAC system is a major project but TRANE will be responsible for the cost.
At Falls City High School the project list includes continuing to expand the concrete part of the parking lot, updating HVAC Computer controls.
