(KAIR)--A 21-year-old woman, looking for someone she knows, knocks on the door of an Atchison residence, and is attacked moments later.
“Around 2:30 on Saturday morning, our officers did respond to a disturbance call in the 300 block of Mound,” Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson tells MSC News. “Once there, they found a 21-year-old female that had some head and facial injuries as the result of this disturbance. There apparently was some type of argument at the door of this residence that continued out front where two other people appeared, another male and a female. She was knocked to the ground, she was kicked and struck about the head. The investigation ensued throughout Saturday morning because the suspects were not at the scene when we arrived. About 9:00 Saturday morning we did take into custody a 24-year-old male.”
He's identified as Atchison resident Devan Landry, who now faces charges of aggravated battery, criminal restraint and criminal damage to property for his alleged role in the attack. He was booked into the Atchison County Jail.
Wilson says the search for the other two suspects in the beating is continuing.
The victim was taken to Police Headquarters following the fight and examined by EMS, but refused transport to the Atchison Hospital.
