(KNZA)--Unemployment was down in most area northeast Kansas counties in February compared to January.
According to figures released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor, Brown and Doniphan Counties were the only two counties to see an increase in their unemployment rates last month. Brown County’s jobless rate climbed slightly to 4.4 percent and Doniphan to 4.9 percent.
Atchison County had the highest unemployment rate at 6.1 percent, while Nemaha County had the lowest at 2.7 percent.
Elsewhere, Jackson County’s unemployment rate in February stood at 4.4 percent; Jefferson, 5.2 percent; Leavenworth, 5.2 percent; Marshall, 3.2 percent and Pottawatomie, 3.9 percent.
All the figures were down from February 2014.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted rate last month was 4.2 percent, changed from January but down from 4.6 percent in February 2014.
