04/13/2015

(Falls City,)-- A selection of the permanent collection from the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts will be on display at the Stalder Gallery inside the Falls City Library and Arts Center. Since 2001, KHN has given artists time and space to create with housing and private studios.  Many artists-in-residence have donated artworks to the Center’s collection which now stands at over 300 artworks.  The works include a variety of media, including paintings, sculptures, videos, audio recordings, broadside prints, and more.  The artists-in-residence are selected through a competitive application process twice a year. KHN alumni include successful visual artists, writers, filmmakers, and composers from all over the world.

Visitors to The Residents at the Falls City Library and Arts Center will see a selection of visual artworks that distill language, primary forms, and simple creative acts.  Elizabeth Stehling, the curator of the exhibit and the KHN program director, will discuss the selected works as well as the residency program during the opening reception on April 17.  Artists featured in the exhibition include David Samuel Stern, Anke Becker, Jenni Brant, Michael Lynch, Eva Nikolova, Jordan Buschur, Irene Chan, Andres Laracuente and many more.

The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is a program of the Richard P. and Laurine Kimmel Charitable Foundation.  Many additional artworks from the collection are on display year-round at the Center’s location, 801 Third Corso in Nebraska City, NE.  This is the second time that a group of artworks from the permanent collection has been exhibited outside of KHN with the first being at the Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska in November 2014.

The Falls City Library and Arts Center is open Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday 9 am to noon.  It is located at 1400 Stone Street, Falls City, NE 68355.  For more information about the Falls City Library and Arts Center, visit http://www.fallscitylibrary.org or call 402-245-2913.
