(KNZA)--Two men will stand trial on charges in connection with an April home invasion on the Kickapoo Reservation.
Following a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon, Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says a judge found there was sufficient evidence for 35-year-old Westley Banks to be bound over to District Court on seven counts contained in an amended compliant. The charges include six felony counts--aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, criminal threat and two counts of aggravated assault along with a misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.
Hill says co-defendant, 21-year-old Andrew Darnell, waived his preliminary hearing and was bound over to District Court on five felony counts-- aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, criminal threat and two counts of aggravated assault.
Arraignment for both men was set for July 13th.
Banks, a former member of the Kickapoo Tribal Council, remains in the Brown County Jail on a $500,000 bond, while Darnell remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
A third suspect in the April 24th home invasion, 32-year-old Tyler " Tiger" Banks, was taken into custody last week at a residence in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and has been extradited back to Brown County to face charges in the case.
