(KNZA)--A Topeka man has been arrested in connection with a vehicle burglary in the Jackson County community of Hoyt last month.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says 27-year-old Edgar Leon Lopez-Cardona was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of burglary and felony theft after the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant on his Topeka residence.
Morse says the search warrant stemmed from an investigation into a burglary to a vehicle that was parked at the Royal Valley Schools, which was reported on May 23rd. Lopez-Cardona is accused of stealing identification and financial cards from the vehicle.
Morse says the financial cards were allegedly used to purchase more than 15-hundred dollars worth of items at various stores in Topeka and Lawrence. He says those items were seized from the residence.
Lopez-Cardona was booked into the Jackson County Jail where bond is pending.
The Topeka Police Department assisted with the search warrant.
