(KAIR)--An Atchison home has suffered significant damage after a late Monday morning fire.
Atchison Fire Department Captain Ted Graf says crews were called to the residence, located in the 1400 block of Hickory Street just after 11:50. EMS arrived on scene first, and “reported heavy smoke coming from the structure. Shortly thereafter, we arrived and confirmed heavy smoke coming from three sides of the single story, wood frame residence, and fire coming from the back of the residence, it was reported to us that all occupants had escaped.”
Graf says the fire was extinguished in about fifteen to twenty minutes, and damage was confined to the main living area.
Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen area. However, the actual cause is under investigation at this time.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
