(KAIR)--Atchison County is in need of a new County Appraiser after Jim Lampe stepped down from the position late last month.
Commissioner Jeff Schuele says that “Jim had spent eighteen years here at Atchison County. Prior to that, he was working in Shawnee County in appraisal and also some construction management. Jim was devoted to the community. He has helped provide Atchison County with a lot of insight into major changes into the way that the Property Valuation Division values properties, assets, fixed assets, etc.”
Schuele adds that the county has considered a different option for filling the position after Lampe left. He says that “we looked with surrounding counties to possibly share an appraiser part time. Based on the number of parcels we have in Atchison County, we could probably swing it by having a part time appraiser. It just seems at this point, no surrounding counties were real interested, or were in the same boat as in a search for an appraiser, and wanted to go a different route.”
Schuele says the county has already advertised for the position, and hopes to have it filled by the end of the month.
