Brown Co Begins 2016 Budget Process
07/09/2015

(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission has begun the 2016 budget process.

The Commission Monday held the first round of hearings on 2016 budget requests with department heads and organizations receiving funding from the county, and will hear the remainder next week.

The Commission will then work on drafting a proposed budget for publication.  Adoption of the budget will follow a public hearing, which is expected in August.

In other business, the Commission approved a resolution appointing Jeffrey Ball as county appraiser for a two-year term.

Ball, from Overbrook, began work Monday at an annual salary of $48,000.  He will commute, working four 10-hour days per week.

Ball previously served as deputy appraiser of Osage County for almost five years.   He replaces Paula Jones who died unexpectedly in February.
