Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2015
Location: Stigge & Sons Farm, Washington, KS

Our Stigge & Sons Ag Day is part of  HMI's Open Gate Learning Series. Open Gates are peer-to-peer action-based learning days with short presentations and small group exercises geared for participants to share discoveries and management techniques with guidance from experienced facilitators and producers.

Whether you are an agricultural producer, local agency representative or just interested in farming and ranching or land and animal stewardship, this is a day for you.

At the Open Gate: Stigge & Sons Ag Day, you will...

  • Discover farming and ranching practices to improve crop land productivity, water holding capacity, soil health and wildlife habitat
  • Observe different growth stages of cover crops to be used for seasonal grazing and for variable grazing herds
  • Discuss soil health monitoring techniques
  • Connect with producers and providers in the area to develop support networks for those interested in adopting Holistic Management practices
  • Develop skills in evaluating costs, gross returns, and net returns of graze cropping vs. grain farming
  • Learn about available training opportunities to expand and enhance awareness and knowledge of Holistic Management
