(KAIR)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has made detour changes for the U.S. 73/K7 road reconstruction project, effective immediately.
According to a release from KDOT, the changes are due to traffic concerns with the existing detour route for U.S 73/K7 at the Leavenworth County Road 14 intersection. No traffic will be allowed to cross through this intersection during the project.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via Lowemont Road and Amelia Earhart Drive to the Leavenworth County Road 14 intersection, before heading south on the U.S. 73/K7 until K-92 where it will then be shifted to the existing Leavenworth County Road 14 detour.
All northbound traffic will follow the already established detour on Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail.
Advance message boards will alert traffic to the shift, and traffic will be directed via cones, barricades, and signage through the project work zone.
