Car Burglars Strike Hiawatha
07/23/2015

(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Police Department is investigating a rash of car burglaries.

Police Chief John Defore said Thursday that six vehicle burglaries have been  reported so far this week.

Defore said officers are working leads, and the department is  asking for the public’s help in catching the suspect or suspects responsible.

So far, he says the suspects are only getting into unlocked vehicles.

Defore urges residents to keep their vehicles locked up, valuables out of sight, and vehicles parked in lit areas. He also urges residents to report all suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hiawatha Police Department at
(785) 742-2156.
