USD 430 Budget Contains Mill Levy Decrease
07/24/2015

(KNZA)--The Board of Education for the South Brown County schools during a special meeting Thursday evening approved for publication a proposed 2015-16 budget of nearly $13 million that calls for a 1.5 mill property tax levy decrease.

Superintendent Dr. Steve Davies says he feels the district has developed a strong, positive budget.

Davies said the budget is designed to meet the needs of the district’s students, high level of fuel costs, additional expenses anticipated to cover the proposed federal food guidelines, and possible budget reductions by the state and federal governments.

He said the district continues to work on ways of reducing costs and yet maintain a quality education for the students of USD 430.

The proposed budget contains an estimated tax rate of 52.1 mills, which is to generate nearly $1.5 million in tax revenue.

The Board will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their August 10th meeting.
