Counterfeit Currency Investigated In Atchison
08/10/2015

(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department is conducting an investigation focusing on counterfeit currency that has been appearing in the local area since late spring of this year.

Police Chief Mike Wilson says the false currency has been appearing in both businesses and the banking system and “generally the bills appear several at a time, rather than a large quantity all at once. The bills vary from $5 bills to $50 bills...We have had several more in recent days that have appeared.”

Wilson says officials are continuing to follow several leads, and have made progress in the investigation.
