(KAIR)--A vehicle reported stolen in Atchison early Sunday morning, was found later that day, damaged after a wreck.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says that a 23-year-old victim first reported the Pontiac Grand Prix stolen from a residence located in the 7000 block of Logeman Road. Keys to the vehicle had been located just inside the residence, and Wilson believes an unknown suspect entered the home, took the keys, and left the scene.
The vehicle was located just a hour later in the 1300 block of Kansas Avenue. It had struck a parked vehicle in addition to a retaining wall. No driver or other occupants were found at the scene.
Both vehicles and the wall suffered extensive damage in the wreck.
Wilson says the investigation into the theft and the wreck is ongoing.
