(KNZA)--The Jefferson County Commission has approved for publication a proposed 2016 budget that contains a nearly 1.9 mill levy increase.
The Commission approved the budget for publication this week.
It contains an estimated mill levy of 73.327 mills.
The mill levy increase is being attributed to a 49.2 percent increase in employee health insurance for 2016, along with an extra pay period in 2016.
The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their August 31st meeting.
