(KNZA)--Unemployment was up in area northeast Kansas Counties in July compared to the month before.
According to the Kansas Department of Labor, Atchison County had the highest unemployment rate at 8 percent, while Nemaha County had the lowest at 3.4 percent.
Elsewhere, Brown County’s jobless rate in July was 5 percent; Doniphan, 5.6 percent; Jackson, 4.6 percent; Jefferson, 5 percent; Leavenworth, 5.1 percent; Marshall, 3.6 percent; and Pottawatomie, 4.6 percent.
All the rates were up from July 2014 except in Jackson, Jefferson and Leavenworth Counties.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in July was 4.6 percent. That’s up from 4.5 percent in June and 4.4 percent in July 2014.
