(KNZA)--An arrest has been made in connection with the circulation of counterfeit money in the city of Hiawatha.

Police Chief John Defore says Investigator Mickey Gruber was called to the First Street Bar and Grill early Friday evening to take a report of a counterfeit $20 bill. Through further investigation, he says Gruber located 31-year-old Jeffrey Kosman of Kansas City, Kansas.

Kosman was booked into the Brown County Jail on charges making false information, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Defore says the arrest comes in conjunction with an ongoing investigation into a rash of counterfeit $10 and $20 bills circulating through local businesses.

He says three known serial numbers have been duplicated and is urging local businesses to be vigilant in inspecting any money they receive.

Defore says County Attorney Kevin Hill was to be presented with the case Monday while investigators continue to follow-up on several possible connecting cases.
