(KAIR)--The man accused of the fatal shooting of an Atchison man last week remains jailed in Henry County, Missouri.

19-year-old Terell Dixon was arrested in the Missouri location last Thursday, 18-hours after he allegedly shot to death 24-year-old Winston Downing outside the Kings Superstore at 912 Division Street in Atchison.

According to the Henry County Court Clerk's Office, Dixon has not yet waived extradition. He apparently intended to do so, but the County Prosecutor's Office has been informed Dixon changed his mind.

He's held on an Atchison County District Court warrant charging him with second degree murder.

A court appearance for the accused shooter could come as soon as sometime Tuesday.

Authorities say the former Arkansas resident had only lived in Atchison for around a year.

Police have not yet revealed how he managed to make his way to Missouri following the shooting.

Meanwhile, there will be no funeral services for Downing. According to his obituary, he has been cremated, and the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Downing is survived by his mother, Ethel Downing, a son, Breylon, two daughters, Zay'Aira and Chardae, as well as three brothers, Jeremie Seymore, Andrew Reed, and Anthony Reed, two sisters, Leslie Seymore and Andrea Reed, and his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Downing.
