AppleJack Festival This Weekend in Nebraska City

 (KLZA)--Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce is expecting record crowds for this weekend’s AppleJack Festival.

The festival routinely draws between 60,000 – 80,000 people to the small, historic town of Nebraska City to celebrate the kickoff of the fall apple harvest. This year the AppleJack Festival has six huge craft fairs, a downtown flea market, the 47th Annual AppleJack Parade and State Band Competition, a Classic Car Show, a concert at Three Hills Event Center, a 3-day carnival, and free busses to transport people around the citywide celebration.

The parade is scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday at the River City Classic Car Show is scheduled from 8 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. Visitors are encouraged to park at the VF Outlet Mall or Three Hills Event Center over AppleJack weekend and take the free shuttles to area events.

Local foods has added to the festival’s allure and AppleJack is growing to be a national-caliber event. The AppleJack Festival is currently rated second in the USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers' Choice travel awards contest. The USA TODAY’s expert panel selected the AppleJack Festival, along with 19 others nationwide, as a contender for Best Fall Harvest Festival in America. The contest, which is being promoted by USA TODAY, gives voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice at

Voting ends Monday, September 28th, 2015 at 10:59 AM and the winners will be announced on 10Best on Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at 12:00pm EDT, then later on USA TODAY.
