FB Privacy Posts Only a Hoax
09/29/2015

(MSC News)--Facebook users Monday found their news feeds flooded with posts providing false information regarding the privacy of content on the popular social media site.

A post by Facebook addressed the issue by saying “Facebook is free and it always will be. And the thing about copying and pasting a legal notice is just a hoax.”

The company, in the past, has issued similar statements when such inaccurate information was passed from user to user.

According to the myth busting website Snopes.com, similar hoax privacy policy concerns also made the rounds in 2012.

One widely shared post Monday claimed that users would soon need to ante up $5.99 a month to keep their information private. Another urged users to post to their profile what appeared to be a legal notice maintaining that all information the user shared on the site would remain their personal property.
