(KNZA)--After some setbacks, Brown County Rural Water District #2 has received approval for the annexation of property into its district.
Following a public hearing Wednesday, the Brown County Commission found that all requirements of state statute had been met for the annexation.
A petition was submitted last month for the annexation of property in the vicinity of Irving and Padonia Townships into the District.
That comes after the District was contacted about five years ago by several landowners in the area about the District providing them with water service.
Rural Water District #2 Board President Leroy Puvogel says the District continues to work on a sustainable low cost water source. He says once that happens, they will seek bids for the installation of lines. Puvogel said the Board would like to see the project completed within a year to a year-and-a-half.
