(KNZA)--Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller is among three finalists nominated to fill the judge vacancy in the 2nd Judicial District.
Miller, of Holton, is joined by Onaga City Attorney and Prosecutor Christopher Etzel, of Havensville, and Wabaunsee County Attorney Norbert Marek, Junior, of Westmoreland, as the three candidates for the position.
They were narrowed from a field of ten applicants and nominated by a nominating commission following interviews held Thursday at the Jackson County Courthouse.
The names of the three have now been forwarded to Governor Sam Brownback who has sixty-days to decide which one of the three will be selected as judge.
The vacancy was created by the unexpected death of Judge Michael Ireland in August.
The 2nd Judicial District includes Jackson, Jefferson, Pottawatomie, and Wabaunsee counties.
