One stroke separated Jordan Schaardt (Humboldt) from becoming the medalist at the Hastings College Spring Invite held on Thursday.
The Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat senior golfer, playing for the first time in several weeks, had a great day despite the weather playing a definite factor for all golfers, noted head coach Brett Hahn. Hahn said, “The day started off cool and drizzly with the afternoon becoming very windy. Jordan didn't let the weather bother her one bit. She shot an 83 in her first meet back since our home opener, which was good enough for 3rd place overall.”
Schaardt shots rounds of 41 and 42 for the 83, which was 11 strokes over par. The medalist for the meet was Jenna Woitaszewski from Doane College who won a playoff from Calie Truler from the College of St. Mary as they both shot 82 for the 18 holes.
As a team, PSC finished fourth with a total of 378. Doane won the Invite by shooting a 360 as a team.
Other Bobcat golfers and their finishes include – Courtney Musgrave (Omaha) – T 14th – 95, Katie Potter (Omaha) – T 19th – 97, Ellen Larsen (Lincoln) – 27th – 103, and Jacey Stoner (Alda) – T 31st – 107.
Coach Hahn added, “Placing fourth as a team was a nice step forward as we head into our next home match. We will be hosting both Hastings College and Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday at 9 am at Table Creek. This will be our final match before we head to our conference tournament. We are trending in the right direction now with all of the girls showing great focus on our team goal of playing well at conference.”
The Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 30 and May 1 at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo.
