Holt County Bridge is 700th Missouri Safe and Sound Project Completed
05/02/2012

The state of Missouri marked the completion of the 700th project in its Safe and Sound Bridge Replacement program, with the opening of a Holt County bridge.  The Missouri Department of Transportation celebrated the milestone Tuesday with a ribbon cutting at the Mid-Branch Squaw Creek Bridge on Route C.
Holt County Commissioners, along with Mo-DOT District Engineer Don Wichern and Area Engineer Mike Rinehart, joined to cut the ribbon on the bridge, which opened to traffic Tuesday afternoon.
The Route C Bridge closed to traffic on March 19th, and was closed for 43 days while it was replaced.  It’s the 12th Safe and Sound Bridge completed in Holt County.
The Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program will replace 190 bridges in northwest Missouri.  Eight bridges are currently under construction, and 27 will be completed this year.
