A small business that will hold afternoon teas will come to fruition in Atchison.

The Atchison Planning Commission approved a home occupation permit for Sharon Berry to have the business at 1009 Parallel Street.

Community Development Director Stefanie Leif says one person spoke in opposition to the business, concerned about parking around the home for other citizens.

Commissioners also found that the proposed annexation of select properties in south Atchison were in conformance with the city’s comprehensive action plan.

It will now advance to a public hearing at the Atchison City Commissioners in June.

Leif said eight people attended Wednesday’s meeting with concerns.
