(KAIR) -- Wednesday’s meeting of the Atchison County Commissioners marked the end of appeal hearings on the new solid waste fee that was instituted in November.
Commissioner Jeff Schuele cites a couple of examples from the boards upholding of the remaining 12 appeals.

Schuele says they will use the appeals as analysis for improvements for next year in subsequent meetings of the Solid Waste Committee.
Commissioners also learned earlier in the week they were recipients of a KDOT Safety grant to re-do three intersections along 262nd Road between Highways 73 and 59.
Two of the intersections are “Y” configurations, were among those deemed dangerous by KDOT.
Schuele says the county expects the project to commence sometime this year and they only will be responsible for 10 percent of the project that won’t exceed 123 thousand dollars.
