Atchison Bridge Work Draws Frustration
04/29/2013

(KAIR)--Ongoing construction, related to the new Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge in Atchison, continues to have negative affects on a nearby business.
That's the contention of Lutz Brothers Oil and Yo Bros Frozen Yogurt Shop co-owner Dennis Lutz, who says the ongoing closure of the northbound lane of 4th Street has sent increased traffic inot the lot of his business-not to make purchases, but to illegally manuever around the construction (Play Audio)
Recently, Lutz, in a sarcastic reponse to his frustration over the traffic issue, let passers-by view a tangible reminder that he's aware of the illegal maneuvering (Play Audio)
Lutz, who has also experienced a slight decline due to the bridge construction, is hopeful that will change once the work wraps up (Play Audio)
Based on the latest timeline released by the Kansas Department of Transportation, it appears Lutz will have a wait just a little longer for traffic near his business to return to normal.
According to KDOT, if weather cooperates, the work should wrap-up, with all four lanes of traffic open, by sometime in June.
