NW Missouri Counties Discussing Agreement to House Prisoners
12/11/2013

(KTNC) - Officials from Holt and Andrew Counties are working on an agreement that would allow Holt County to house inmates in the new Andrew County Jail.
Commissioners from both counties discussed the matter last week.  Andrew County commissioners said they’d be willing to house five or six Holt County inmates at a cost of $35 per day, which includes transportation, meals, and basic medical care.
They also discussed options for house arrest, work release and advanced medical care.
Commissioners agreed to move forward with an agreement and have the two Sheriffs work out contract details.
Holt County currently houses some prisoners at the Andrew County Jail, but officials have been discussing housing a set number of inmates for a flat rate.
