(KTNC) -- Holt County Road and Bridge Department employees will get a pay raise this year. County Commissioners unanimously approved a two-percent salary increase in wages for the department employees.
Road and Bridge staff did not receive a raise in 2013 when all other General Revenue funded employees did get raises. The salary increase is effective with the next payroll after approval of the county budget.
George Kurtz of rural Oregon met with Holt County Commissioners last week to discuss his concerns about the wind farm proposed for southeastern Holt County. Kurtz expressed concern about potential damage to county roads and tax reductions associated with the construction.
Element Power is developing the Mill Creek Wind Farm, which will be the largest such facility in the state of Missouri when it’s completed. The company says it has 25,000 acres under lease with over 100 landowners.
The company has indicated it would seek to take advantage of tax incentives should the county set up an Enhanced Enterprise Zone.
