(KTNC) -- One of the Republicans running to be the next governor of Nebraska brought his campaign to Falls City last week. Pete Ricketts met with voters over breakfast at Terri Jo’s Restaurant Friday morning.
Ricketts, who is the former Chief Operating Officer of TD Ameritrade, says his executive experience sets him apart in the crowded primary race.
As governor, Ricketts says he would seek to employ technology to lower the cost of government services.
Ricketts says lowering property and income tax rates would be a priority. He says property taxes could be lowered partly by slowing the growth of state government.
On the income tax rate, Ricketts says he’d like to lower the top rate of 6.84-percent, which kicks in at $27,000, to around five percent.
Ricketts says the potential entry of Attorney General Jon Bruning into the race will not change the campaign for him.
This is Ricketts’ second run at statewide office in Nebraska. He ran for U.S. Senate in 2006, losing in the general election to Ben Nelson.
