Pawnee County Commissioners Approve Partial Road Closure

(KLZA) -- The Pawnee County Commissioners voted to close a half-mile stretch of road north of the Kansas – Nebraska State line on 614 Avenue when they met Tuesday.  A public hearing on the proposed closing of the section of road was held earlier. 

A public hearing was held concerning Pawnee County becoming a Livestock Friendly County.  Board members voted unanimously to sign a resolution of support for Pawnee County being a Livestock Friendly County. 

Bids for the county audit for the next three years were opened.  Bids were received from Schulz and Associates for $8,500 per year for the three years and from the State Auditor’s Office for $14,000 per year for each year.  Commissioners approved the bid from Schulz & Associates. 

Emergency Management Agency Director Clint Strayhorn was appointed to represent Pawnee County on the FirstNet nationwide public safety broadband network.

A request from the Pawnee City Chamber of Commerce to use the Courthouse grounds for movies during the month of June was approved. Commissioners also reviewed a letter, form the Extension Educator stating Brittany Thomas has been hired as Office Manager. 

Bobbi Meints and Alan Richard presented the Five Rivers RC&D request for dues for 2014-15.  The Board approved paying the dues in the amount of $564.
