(KLZA) - Thursday’s canvass of the votes cast during the Nemaha County, Nebraska primary election changed the outcome of one race.
Eight people filed to run for a position on the Auburn Board of Education. When the vote totals were released Tuesday night, it indicated that Shawn Phillips had received 257 votes, which was the sixth highest total and would have put him in the November General Election for one of the three seats available.
After the canvass, Lynsey Schmidt was in the sixth position with 207 votes and Phillips’ vote total was 159.
According to Nemaha County Election officials, the discrepancy is due to a clerical error. The vote total was entered incorrectly on Tuesday night.
Those advancing to the November General Election are Beth Kernes Krause with 620; Laura Osborne with 481; Ryan Jones with 375; Denise Lickteig with 347; Billy Chapin with 290, Lynsey Schmidt with 207 votes.
Shawn Phillips was seventh with 159 votes and Greg Cook was eighth with 131 votes.
