Atchison County Commissioners are looking for more transparency in posting meeting agendas.
Commissioners will begin preliminary discussions at Wednesday mornings regular semi-weekly meeting at 9:15.
County Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen says modifications will be beneficial to the public, department heads, commissioners and media.
BODENHAUSEN AGENDAS RT: :33 OC: “…to plan.”
Among early ideas tossed around have been dedicating one of the two meeting days of the week strictly to county business and making the second day more dedicated to meeting with department heads.
Another idea is establishing standard meeting basics, such as time dedicated to public forums, all the way down to reciting the pledge of allegiance before beginning business.
During Monday’s meeting, Commissioners continued discussion on modifying policies to the employee handbook on use of cell phones in county vehicles, as well as general use of county property.
Commissioner Jeff Schuele says the last time the phone policy was updated, texting and smartphones didn’t exist.
Insurance provider K-CAMP recommended they adopt a no texting while driving policy.
However, personal county property use didn’t even have a policy.
SCHUELE PROPERTY RT: :29 OC: “…it’s restricted.”
No action has been taken, and won’t be taken until department heads have a chance to view the policy draft and get feedback from employees.
