(KLZA) The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners approved the One and Six Year Road Plan following a public hearing Tuesday.
Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner presented the plan. Gene Weilage, Mark Tomek and Ron Hunzeker and Glenn Kettlehake were present for the hearing. Weilage asked if the plan included a bridge between sections 32 & 33 while Hunzeker and Kettlehake expressed interest about a bridge on 717 Road.
After a couple of changes to the plan the Board approved it unanimously.
Emergency Manager Clint Strayhorn met with Commissioners about the Local Emergency Operations Plan and said the State is granting him more time to re-write the plan. The Nemaha NRD Hazardous Mitigation information was passed out to Board members and the Board agreed to continue with financial support for the project.
Pawnee County Attorney Jennifer Stehlik Ladman met with Commissioners regarding the Interlocal Agreement between Pawnee and Johnson Counties for Emergency Management. She will make a few minor adjustments and submit it for Board approval.
Weed Superintendent / Zoning Manager Larry Bradbury met with Commissioners regarding three applications left over from Jerry Divis. Bradbury said he is looking at having the office open a half day or one day a week for Zoning and Weed Control. The day and time will be determined.
Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner met with Commissioners. Two culvert project bids were opened and were tabled while Mainelli & Wagner review the bids. One from M.E. Collins of Wahoo at a cost of $291,383 and increasing to more than $326,000 if Collins has to do the road work. A bid from Gus Construction of Casey, Iowa was submitted with a box culvert bid of $233,679 and a bid including road work of $257,095.
Tomek Construction was awarded a bid to remove a bridge near Table Rock at a cost of $1,000. It was the only bid submitted.
An executive session was held with Chris Rauner and Byford Schmit to discuss personnel. No action was taken following the closed session.
