(KAIR) -- On the heels of two Brown County organizations each receiving 25 hundred dollars from Monsanto, two Atchison County organizations will also get the same award.
County resident Sarah Kramer received five thousand dollars in the America’s Farmers Grow Communities competition and will donate it to the Atchison County Fair Board and Shannon Township Fire District.
Sponsored by the Monsanto fund, Grow Communities allows farmers the opportunity to win a 25-hundred-dollar donation for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.
However, in an effort to support those counties declared disaster areas due to drought by the USDA, winners in those counties-including Kramer-were able to double their donation.
Atchison County earned the disaster declaration, giving Kramer the chance to split the money and make two donations.
An official presentation will take place Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the fire department.
