More Poly Carts Coming to Atchison
04/16/2013

(KAIR) -- More Atchison trash customers will receive poly carts for their waste.

City Commissioner Monday night approved the purchase of 312, 96-gallon poly carts, and 434, 64-gallon carts, for a cost to not exceed 42 thousand dollars.

City staff, after receiving feedback from citizens already in the pilot not needing as big of a cart, ordered a half-order of medium sized carts.

This batch of citizens should receive their cart in six to eight weeks.

Commissioners also re-appointed Cathy Coronado to the Library Board, and appointed Don Bratton to terms to expire April 30, 2017.

Other candidates up for appointment included John Bishop and Charlie Petesch.

Commissioners gave Public Works permission to apply for the 2015 KLINK cost share program to micro-seal and create new pavement markings for US 73 Highway from 10th Street to south city limits.

If the cost share is approved by KDOT, it would cost the city 198 thousand 308 dollars.

Commissioners will also conduct their first-ever goal-setting workshop for the budget season this evening from five until eight at Jerry’s Again.

The workshop is a public meeting.
