(KAIR) -- Benedictine College has announced an expansion of its College Ministry program, adding David Trotter as the new Director for Mission & Ministry.
The move allows Father Brendan Rolling, O.S.B., to take on a more pastoral role, working with the students as the head Chaplain on campus.
Trotter will continue his responsibilities with Benedictine’s Institute for Missionary Activity but has left his position as director of collegiate outreach for the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), based in Denver.
Trotter, a St. Louis native, graduated from the University of Kansas in 2005. He is a convert to Catholicism and joined FOCUS as a missionary, serving for eight years in Nebraska, Alabama and Kansas.
He was a FOCUS team director for four years and served on their Leadership Development Initiative. Most recently he had been the FOCUS Director of Collegiate Outreach for the Southern Plains, managing missionary teams on 15 campuses in six states from Iowa to Texas.
He and his wife, Erin, have three children and are expecting their fourth.
Rolling is a solemnly professed monk of St. Benedict’s Abbey, one of the founding institutions of Benedictine College.
Following his ordination to the priesthood, Rolling served as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life from 2000-2005. In 2005, he accepted the appointment to be Benedictine’s first Director for Mission & Ministry.
Fr. Brendan earned his undergraduate degree from Benedictine College and holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Monastic Studies from St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
