Pawnee Co Board Approves Significant Cut in Tax Levy
09/12/2013

(KLZA) -- Pawnee County Commissioners have voted to reduce the property tax levy by more than 14-cents to 22.26 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the next fiscal year.  Last year the levy was 36.38 cents.  A large increase in the county valuations and receipt of  nearly $1.3-million from the Inheritance Tax Fund allowed for the property tax decrease.

A public hearing was opened at 9:30 a-m with several people present.  The hearing lasted 50 minutes.  Commissioners approved a transfer of $1,280,000 from the Inheritance Fund to the County General Fund and then adopted a resolution transferring $1,025,093 from the General Fund to the Road/Bridge Fund.

Pawnee County Treasurer Cheryl Dahlgren presented a list of properties with delinquent real estate taxes.  She also presented a list of 2012 delinquent taxes.  Commissioners instructed her to issue certificates on the delinquent taxes not paid.

Highway Superintendent Chris Rauner discussed closing about a half-mile section of 717 Road.  A resolution was adopted to do a study concerning closing the section of road.

Commissioners also reviewed the letter of resignation from Larry Bradbury as Zoning Manager and Weed Superintendent and voted to accept the resignation immediately.
