(KTNC)-- Roads in the Rulo area are open to traffic as normal. That's according to the Richardson County Emergency Management Agency, which says they've received several inquiries about the status of the roads after this week's rise in the Missouri River level caused by Tuesday night's heavy rain.
Flood warnings continue this (Friday) morning for the Missouri River affecting southeast Nebraska and northwest Missouri.
The river level at Rulo was at 19.3 feet, 2.3 feet above flood stage, at 6:00 a.m. Friday. At Brownville, the river level Friday morning was at 34.3 feet, which is a little more than one foot over flood stage.
The Missouri River is expected to fall below flood stage at both locations this evening. The river is expected to fall below flood stage at St. Joseph sometime late Saturday morning.
Richardson County Emergency Management issued a voluntary evacuation order Wednesday night for people living along the Missouri River in the Rulo area, after heavy rains and forecasts for the river to rise to over 23-feet.
The river level didn't rise as much as originally predicted, and the evacuation order was lifted Thursday morning.
