(KTNC)--Holt County Commissioners have approved a resolution to create an Enhanced Enterprise Zone in the county. The resolution repeals all previoius EEZ resolutions and institutes a new map of the census tracts in the county with all incorporated towns, except Oregon.
According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the census tract associated with the City of Oregon does not meet the criteria to qualify for the Enhanced Enterprise Zone. Missouri law requires areas included in an EEZ to be deemed as “blighted.”
Businesses would be able apply for tax incentives for building in the Enhanced Enterprise Zone.
Commissioners have sent letters to all governmental subdivisions impacted by formation of the enterprise zone. A formal public hearing on the creation of the EEZ will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 12, at the Holt County Courthouse.
