Wagner says people who live in urban areas shouldn't be surprised if one pops up in their yard. For those who encounter one while on a highway or the interstate system should be on the lookout for these large birds.

Wagner says toms and jakes do get a bit more aggressive during mating season but there is no need for alarm. They may approach other animals or children because they are at eye level but they are not known to attack.
