April is National Safe Digging Month. Anyone planning to do an excavation project of any size is reminded they must call 8-1-1 at least two business days before they start in order to request that underground utility lines be marked.
There is no charge to have underground utility lines located, and you are required by law to have the lines located. Non-compliance with the law carries serious penalties.
A call to 8-1-1 alerts Digger’s Hotline of Nebraska to notify the companies that may have underground utility lines in the area.
