The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Cedar Creek Steak House located on the north edge of Humboldt along Highway 4 about 6:15 p-m Sunday.
Fire Chief Rex Kapel said owner Doug Mayo had been doing some work in the basement of the building and that was where the fire started doing damage to the basement and stairwell area. There was no fire damage but some smoke in the area of the dining area and kitchen area.
The fire was extinguished in about half an hour but firemen were on the scene until about 11:30 while the State Fire Marshall conducted an investigation.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The restaurant has been closed for a number of months.
