A 62-year-old Missouri truck driver is dead following a single vehicle accident in south Atchison County Wednesday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Kansas Highway 116 near Edwards Road shortly after 8:30 a.m.
The Patrol says Duane Mosel of Turney was westbound on K-116 when for an unknown reason his 2009 Kenworth semi truck left the roadway. The semi entered the south ditch and went over a field entrance culvert.
The trailer detached from the truck and the truck continued into a private field, crashing into a ravine.
The patrol doesn’t specify if he was wearing a safety restraint.
The accident closed a stretch of K-116 from a mile and a half west of Edwards Road to Bourbon Road for more than five hours Wednesday.
