Power outages in Falls City Sunday night and Monday morning that affected most of the business district are fixed only temporarily and the City Council is urging utility customers to conserve energy when possible.
City Council President Jerry Oliver explained the problem for the Council Monday night. ( play audio :19 seconds )
The affected wire comes out of the plant and sends electricity out to the customers. If the weather turns hot and the demand for electricity peaks, it could cause a big problem. ( play audio :13 seconds )
Oliver said the downtown area that was without power Monday would be the most likely area to be affected but there could be other problems develop and the problem could become citywide.
Getting the burned wire replaced is not the problem, it is connectors to splice this size of wire together that are not readily available. ( play audio :07 seconds )
