The contractor, Bryant and Bryant Construction of Halstead, began work last August on the reconstruction of three blocks of Seneca’s brick Main Street.
The project was shut down in mid-November and resumed in late February.
An eight member crew with Bryant and Bryant were on their way to Seneca April 16th when they were involved in a head-on collision near Junction City. Seven crew members were injured and the driver of their van, 52-year-old Juan Perez of Wichita was killed. Also killed was the driver of the other vehicle.
Perez’ contribution to the project will be remembered through a sidewalk paver engraved with his name and placed in the new sidewalk in front of City Hall.
The paver was installed last Thursday.
