An Atchison County Republican has filed to challenge long-time Atchison County Clerk Pauline Lee.
Steve Gardner will be the presumptive Republican nominee for the general election as he was the lone candidate to file for the post on the Republican ticket Friday.
He will most likely face Lee, who is the only person that filed on the Democratic side.
Lee has been County Clerk since 1977, after being appointed to fill out a term and has won re-election to the post since.
