A rural Lancaster resident has filed for the Democratic nomination for Atchison County Register of Deeds.
Katie Vollmer filed by petition Friday morning for the post being vacated by Marlene Wagner, who is retiring following the election.
Vollmer describes her background and why she wanted to file for the position.

She is the first candidate to file for the Democratic nomination.
She will face either County Clerk office employee Shelley Campbell of the Shannon Township, or Register of Deeds office employee Tammy Weir of Atchison, who are seeking the Republican nomination.
